Representatives of ACT and SHAPE and a representative from the Netherlands also participated at the meeting in an observer role.

The Director of the JCBRN Defence COE, COL Jiri Gajdos, informed the nations about the current progress in the engagement of the potential future Sponsoring Nations. The JCBRN Defence COE lately received a positive response from Norway, which is seriously considering the possibility of joining the JCBRN Defence COE. Based on the thorough discussion the Steering Committee agreed to task the JCBRN Defence COE to officially staff the draft Letter of Intent with EUMS with the Sponsoring Nations to be approved at the Autumn SC Meeting. A significant time was dedicated to the discussion on the Reach Back Capability, which is currently in development at the JCBRN Defence COE.

The next SC Meeting will be held in Vyškov on 29 - 30 October 2014.
