17th Doctrine and Terminology Panel (DTP) meeting took place in Brno, Czech Republic from 17th to 20th October 2011 and it was hosted by JCBRN Defence COE.
28 delegates from 11 NATO nations (BEL, CAN, CZE, DEU, DNK, ESP, FRA, HUN, ITA, NLD and USA), ACT, ONTC, JAPCC and the JCBRN Defence COE attended the meeting with the aim to progress the development of essential CBRN doctrinal publications.
17th DTP meeting held in Brno, Czech Republic was a very successful meeting with an outstanding preparation of work by the Custodians and proactive approach of all participants, which resulted in the fruitful outcome achieved by the syndicates. Respectively plenary sessions were also productive and decisions were taken for all tasks received from the Merged JCG CBRN and CBRN WG (Merged Group).
It was a very important meeting also due to the fact that a final draft of the new CBRN concept was introduced and consequently once the concept is approved by nations most of the essential CBRN-related doctrines will require to be reviewed.
DTP successfully lead the work of the one of the most important CBRN doctrines - AJP-3.8(A) which finally entered the ratification process. Nations are to provide their ratification responses by 08 DEC 2011. Study Draft 1 of the ATP-3.8.1 Vol. II was reviewed and after consolidation work done by Custodian (DEU) it will reach a status of Study Draft 2. ATP-3.8.1 Vol. III was promulgated on the 5th of April 2011. CBRN-related terminology was discussed during the reviewing process of respective Terminology Tracking Forms (TTFs) and the work moved significantly with a significant number of agreed terms and definitions. DTP decided to forward all agreed TTFs to the Merged Group and Office of NATO Terminology Coordination to reach NATO consensus on those terms and insert them into the new NATO Terminology database.
The next DTP meeting will be organized from 14th to 17th May 2012 in Winterbourne Gunner and it will be hosted by Great Britain.
