The JCBRN Defence COE Steering Committee was held for 9th time in Vyškov, Czech Republic on 21 - 22 September 2010. The JCBRN Defence COE Director Zdenek CIZEK welcomed all present SC members and representatives from IMS, SHAPE, EDA, WMD Non-proliferation and US EUCOM. In his opening address he pointed out the new generation of international staff who have arrived this year and successfully the work and projects of their predecessors.
On the first day of the meeting, the JCBRN Defence COE director gave the SC COE status report; this update is given regularly by the Director and keeps members up-to-date on the current situation. Following the report the IMS representative, COL Christopher Harness, gave a presentation on NATO HQ and Committee reorganization and Conceptual Transformation of CBRN Defence. The meeting continued with EDA representative, Mr. Frank Kämper, giving an informative presentation on European Defence Agency CBRN projects. The audience found the presentation valuable and agreed on potential future cooperation and active support.
The agenda included an information brief on the development of the JCBRN Defence COE CONOPS and the development of the draft NATO CBRN Concept. These two areas are of particular importance; CONOPS is a live project and document, which is regularly updated; the NATO CBRN Concept is controlled and managed by NATO, but it also involves large input from many JCBRN Defence COE members, too.
On the second and final day of the meeting the SC approved the final version of the Programme of Work 2011, with the inputs from ACT, and approved the Multinational Budget for 2011.
The SC agreed that future SC Meetings in 2011 will be as follows: 19 – 20 April and 20 – 21 September in Vyskov, Czech Republic.
