The Joint Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defence Centre of Excellence (JCBRN Defence COE) opened its academic year 2018 with the CBRN Analysis Super User – Refresher Course 2018. This two-day course, which is organized on an annual basis, hosted students from NATO, Partnership for Peace (PfP) and Mediterranean Dialogue (MD) countries (Belgium, Czech Republic, Greece, Slovenia, Sweden, Georgia, and Jordan) as well as specialists from private industry (Bruhn New Tech Company, Denmark).

The course is designed to introduce changes and improvements made in the Warning and Reporting software, which is currently used as the NATO standard for evaluating CBRN incidents based on the STANAG 2103, ATP-45 (E).

Mr. Erik Schmidt Nielsen and Mrs. Dorte Sandager trained the course participants on the current version of the CBRN Analysis software. Both are experienced practitioners and excellent instructors. The Joint CBRN Defence COE has been honoured to host Mr. Nelson since the 2012 CBRN Warning and Reporting Specialists Pilot Course. The course of instruction enabled students to demonstrate their advanced level of expertise. A computer assisted exercise provided a step-by-step method for acquainting students with the automated procedures. The interactive learning environment created an ideal learning atmosphere for sharing national and NATO experience.

The course served as an excellent opportunity to reinforce participants’ CBRN Warning & Reporting knowledge prior the upcoming NATO exercise BRAVE BEDUIN 2018.

The JCBRN Defence COE intends to continue with its educational and training activities in April 2018 by the “Introduction to the International CBRN Training Curriculum for Trainers of First Responders to CBRN Incidents Course”.
