H2020 eNOTICE Goes Public
After the Joint CBRN Defence Centre of Excellence (JCBRND CoE) had taken the initiative to join the project eNOTICE (European Network of CBRN Training Centres), a kick-off meeting has taken place on 15 September 2017 in Bruxelles (BEL). The project, which is run under the umbrella Horizon 2020 (an EU initiative to foster EU wide co-operation, inter alia in the field of multinational security), aims at establishing a pan-European network of civilian and military CBRN training centres, fostering their co-operation and, if possible, aligning their activities to increase efficiency and gain synergy effects.
WMD-CD-31766 International Radiological Assistance Programme Training for Emergency Response (I-RAPTER) Advanced Course
The I-RAPTER Advanced Course (WMD-CD-31766 International Radiological Assistance Programme Training for Emergency Response) was offered for the second time by the Joint CBRN Defence Centre of Excellence and US Department of Energy (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). The course was conducted from 6 - 9 November 2017. Ten course participants (from CZE, EGY, SVK, SVN and POL), mostly members of armed forces, enjoyed a mix of theoretical lessons, practical activities and exercises. Radiological material identification exercises were conducted in cooperation with CZE University of Defence (NBC Defence Institute / Radiological Laboratory) and Air Museum in Vyškov.
Consequence Management after a CBRN Incident Course (WMD-CD-41764) Successfully Concluded
Sixteen course participants from AUS, BEL, BIH, CZE, GRC, and POL participated in the last course at the Joint CBRN Defence Centre of Excellence in 2017.
The aim of the course was to introduce and describe Consequence Management after a CBRN Incident to NATO and Partner Nation officers and civilian equivalents. The course covered the NATO Crisis Management concept, organization, systems and procedures including Cooperation and Partnership Initiatives in CBRN Crisis and Consequence Management.
Mobile Education Training Team in the State of Kuwait
The Comprehensive CBRN Incident Commanders course was organized by the Joint CBRN Defence COE at the NATO-ICI Regional Centre in the State of Kuwait from 03 to 07 December 2017. The course was supported by the NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme.
NATO Technical Exploitation Workshop at JCBRN Defence COE in Vyškov, Czech Republic, from 29 November – 1 December 2017
The JCBRN Defence COE hosted a NATO Technical Exploitation Workshop held in Vyškov, Czech Republic, from 29 November – 1 December 2017. This workshop was an activity under the Emerging Security Challenges Division’s Defence Against Terrorism Programme of Work (Reinforced) and was co-chaired by Major Holm Iversen Steen, Danish Army Intelligence Centre, and Mr. Samuel “Sam” Henze, NATO Headquarters - International Staff/Emerging Security Challenges Division (Counter-Terrorism Section) [NATO HQ – IS/ESC(CT)]. One of the workshop’s objectives was to facilitate better coordination between C-IED, EOD and the CBRN community. One day was specifically dedicated to a potential role of CBRN Defence capabilities within Technical Exploitation.
