The Joint Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defence Centre of Excellence (JCBRN Defence COE) organized the 2019 iteration of the Consequence Management after a CBRN Incident Course (WMD-CD-41764) from 18 to 22 November 2019.

The Consequence Management after a CBRN Incident Course enables NATO and Partner Nation officers and civilian equivalents to prepare for and respond to the consequences after a CBRN incident. The course covered lessons on NATO crisis management concept, organization, systems and procedures including cooperation and partnership initiatives in CBRN crisis and consequence management.

This year, twenty-seven participants from Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Slovenia and the United States of America participated in theoretical lessons and syndicate work. As a part of the syndicate work, students received various tasks related to consequence management; and then worked together as a team, sharing experiences, different points of view and thought-provoking discussions, which concluded with a briefing on their results.

The lessons were delivered by experts from different organizations, including the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC), Italian Observatory on Security and CBRNe Defence (OSDIFE), Czech Directorate General of Fire and Rescue Service, Austrian CBRN Defence Command and CBRN Defence Centre, Dutch Civil-Military-Interaction Command, United States of America Dynamis Inc., and finally our own JCBRN Defence COE.
